2014 Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, USA

A true expression of the Pritchard Hill terroir, Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was first released in 1992 and is culled solely from grapes grown on the estate’s 13-acre vineyard. This First Growth wine conveys the long winemaking history of the region, a confluence of climate and soil plus a team of experts committed to nurturing its creation. Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon possesses ethereal aromatics and pure minerality that give focus and energy. The complexity of the site yields unusually dynamic wines for a single varietal. The wines of the mid-90s inform our current, somewhat more restrained approach towards crafting wines that demonstrate structural elegance, balance with good acidity and plush tannins — all elements that make them very age-worthy.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

(Rating 97+) The flagship wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, has an amazing, pure, crème de cassis set of aromatics and flavors, an inky purple color, gorgeous purity, full-bodied opulence and all of the characteristics one expects from this great, first-growth quality vineyard on a steep hillside on Pritchard Hill. The finish goes on for a good 45-50 seconds and the wine shows slightly more structure than many 2014s, but is super-rich and concentrated, with at least 25-30 years of future drinking ahead of it as well as evolution. Vinous

Bryant's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely stunning. Vibrant, nuanced and exceptionally polished, the 2014 captures all the potential this wine showed when I first started tasting the separate lots from barrel that fall. Powerful and yet also wonderfully translucent, the 2014 exudes class from start to the finish. The mountain tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer finesse of the fruit. A range of black cherry, plum, lavender, violet and sweet French oak nuances infuse the striking, deeply expressive finish. Brisk, energetic and focused, the 2014 possesses magnificent depth, huge intensity and exceptional overall balance. With the 2014, Bryant is once again squarely among Napa Valley's elite producers. There is little doubt Bryant's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the wines of the vintage. Reviewed by Antonio Galloni. Tasting date: October 2016. Drinking window: 2022-2034.
