The 2012 vintage marked a return to generous yields and near-perfect conditions, offering a harmonious balance of richness, elegance, and longevity.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of blackberry compote, cassis, and violets are layered with subtle notes of graphite, cocoa powder, and tobacco leaf. The palate is expansive yet polished, with flavors of ripe plum, dark chocolate, and a touch of cedar. Silky tannins and fresh acidity give the wine both power and grace, leading into a finish of remarkable persistence.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Harlan Estate, located in Oakville, is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The 2012 vintage was aged for nearly two years in 100% new French oak barrels, followed by additional time in bottle before release. The estate’s hillside vineyards, with volcanic and sedimentary soils, lend both concentration and finesse to the finished wine.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2012 Harlan Estate is a benchmark vintage, celebrated for its generosity and precision. Highly sought after on the secondary market, it remains one of the most collectible California Cult Wines. With critical acclaim and proven longevity, it stands as a cornerstone addition to any serious wine cellar. Perfect for your collection.
