With a lineage rooted in precision and restraint, Far Niente’s 1999 release captures the harmony and longevity that define this benchmark Napa Valley estate.
Tasting Notes
Elegant and composed, the 1999 Far Niente offers aromas of blackcurrant, dried tobacco, and warm cedar intertwined with hints of mocha and graphite. The palate is supple yet structured, showcasing fine tannins, balanced acidity, and lingering flavours of cassis and earth. Decades after harvest, it remains poised and remarkably fresh.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Crafted from estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon in the heart of Oakville, this vintage benefited from a long, moderate growing season. Aged nearly two years in French oak, it demonstrates Far Niente’s meticulous approach to barrel selection and blending. The gravelly loam soils and cool evening breezes of Oakville lend this Cabernet its signature depth and elegance.
Investment & Collectibility
Now considered a mature example of late-1990s Napa Valley winemaking, the 1999 Far Niente continues to attract collectors for its balance, rarity, and steady performance on the secondary market. Its longevity confirms its standing among California’s blue-chip Cabernet Sauvignons.
