2012 Opus One – A Landmark Vintage from Napa Valley
The 2012 Opus One is a benchmark release from this iconic joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. From the heart of Napa Valley, Opus One continues to represent harmony between Bordeaux tradition and California innovation. The 2012 vintage is celebrated for its balance, structure, and remarkable aging potential.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with expressive aromas of blackberry, cassis, and forest floor, accented by hints of tobacco leaf, graphite, and cedar. On the palate, the 2012 is layered and precise, with flavors of dark cherry, mocha, and anise. Silky tannins and a polished texture lead to a long, graceful finish that underscores its elegance and longevity.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Composed of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec, the 2012 Opus One was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. Estate vineyards in Oakville, with their well-drained alluvial soils, provide the foundation for the wine’s purity and depth.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2012 Opus One is considered one of the most collectible Napa vintages of the modern era. Combining accessibility in its youth with decades of aging potential, it is highly sought-after among collectors of California Cult Wines and international fine wine investors. Perfect for your collection.
