Tasting Notes
Voluptuous and layered, this vintage opens with aromas of apricot confit, candied citrus peel, honeysuckle, and freshly grated ginger. The palate is full-bodied yet remarkably precise, showing dense notes of mango, pineapple, and saffron, balanced by crystalline acidity and a seamless, satin-like texture. The finish is seemingly endless, echoing with spice and stone fruit.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Crafted from an average of **80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc**, the grapes were meticulously harvested over multiple passes to capture ideal botrytis concentration. Fermentation and aging took place in **100% new French oak barrels** over the course of 30 months. The vineyard’s gravel and clay soils over a limestone base play a key role in the wine’s power and elegance.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2009 vintage is one of d’Yquem’s most lauded modern releases, showcasing both intensity and precision. With exceptionally high critic scores and proven longevity, it remains a cornerstone of any serious cellar. Perfect for your collection.
Vintage Insights
The **2009 growing season** was marked by warm, dry conditions throughout the summer, followed by ideal humidity and morning fog in September—perfect for developing noble rot. This resulted in low yields but concentrated, botrytized berries of remarkable purity.
