TERROIR
The Grand Enclos de Las Cases contains a lot of complexity. Originating mostly from graves of the Quaternary on gravel-sableous and gravelargileous underground, there is also more or less deep and compact clay, sometimes even affluent. The proximity of the Gironde is responsible for this great diversity of soils, created over the course of geological periods by successive superpositions. In addition, the river generates a very specific microclimate that allows for a very early ripening of the grapes and protects the vineyard from frostbite. This combination of geological combinations influences the development of the vineyard and the constitution of the grapes. This unparalleled terroir gives the great wine its unique personality.

MILLESIME 2014
After a relatively early defloration due to a mild and humid winter exit, the cooling in May delayed the flowering and brought the 2014 millennium to an average of the last ten years. June and early July were punctuated with stormy episodes, but the second half of July, warmer and more sunny over the period from cluster closure to verification, allowed to constitute a good potential in phenolic compounds. The good weather then settled sustainably from 15 August, with still mild temperatures that allowed to maintain good acidity, then September was among the warmest and sunniest of the decade, thus favoring the installation of water constraints conducive to good refining of the tannins of the pellets and spruce. The control of yields, vigor, and early harvesting, helped to maintain a perfect state of health of the vineyard and the grapes to the harvest, which was thus able to be made at the optimal maturity of each grape.

Assembly Cabernet Sauvignon 79% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc 11%

Harvest Date From 30 September to 13 October 2014

Degree: 13.80% vol. - Total Acidity: 4.11 gH2SO4/l - pH: 3.49 - IPT: 70

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

(Rating: 96+). A brilliant effort, the 2014 Léoville Las Cases is a tightly wound classic that will delight purists. Mingling aromas of dark berries and cassis with hints of bitter chocolate, sweet spices, cigar wrapper, pencil shavings and sweet new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with tangy acids and a deep, firm mid-palate framed by rich, powdery tannins. Concluding with a long, penetrating finish, the only missing ingredient is time. Reviewed by: William Kelley, Issue date: August 2022. Drinking window: Drink Date: 2028 - 2070.
