2010 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova – A Modern Brunello Benchmark
The 2010 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova stands as one of the defining wines of its generation in Brunello di Montalcino. Produced from a single estate vineyard, this bottling reflects a contemporary interpretation of Sangiovese that balances depth, precision, and longevity. The 2010 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest ever in Montalcino, elevating Tenuta Nuova to iconic status.
Tasting Notes
Highly expressive, the wine opens with aromas of dark cherry, wild herbs, leather, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is powerful yet composed, with concentrated red and black fruit framed by firm, finely textured tannins. Layers of spice, tobacco, and mineral notes build through a long, focused finish, highlighting both the vineyard’s structure and the vintage’s natural harmony.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Tenuta Nuova is sourced from a dedicated Sangiovese vineyard planted on mixed clay and limestone soils at higher elevation. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by extended aging in large-format oak and bottle before release. Casanova di Neri’s meticulous vineyard management and low yields contribute to the wine’s purity and architectural balance.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2010 Tenuta Nuova has earned consistent acclaim and strong demand on the secondary market. Its proven aging trajectory, limited production, and critical recognition position it as a cornerstone wine for collectors focused on top-tier Italian reds.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
The 2010 growing season delivered slow, even ripening under ideal conditions, producing wines of concentration, freshness, and longevity. Critics continue to regard this vintage as a reference point for modern Brunello.
