- WINEMAKER NOTES
2021 Fortunate Son 'The Warrior', Napa Valley, USA
THE WARRIOR is moody with deep, dark black cherry hues. It charges out of the glass with bold notes of black plums and blackberries that slowly uncover Madagascar vanilla bean and dark roast coffee. The full-bodied palate is muscular, showcasing powerful, yet fine tannins that support the fresh stone fruits The long and captivating finish is highlighted with sparks of minerality.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Pure, total power and darkness. Be careful as you may like it too much and it could put you in the mood to tell people what you really think. It again is not for the faint of heart it is for those with a will of steel and determination to match. This is a wine for people that admire subtle elegance and not-so-subtle power.
VINTAGE NOTES
There was no 2020 vintage due to the apocalyptic fires and so the 2021 has been a long time coming. An extremely small crop, dryness and zero heat spikes combined with super small, concentrated berries and a super long ripening season resulted in the vintage being hailed as one of the TRULY great ones.
VINEYARD NOTES
Sourced from a single, small, family-owned vineyard, farmed with great care and attention (their "dream" standard) and never forced to pick by weather or tank capacities. Made by sorting the fruit berry by berry, fermenting in small, French oak fermenters, and long aging in the finest barriques. The secret is no compromise and no detail overlooked, ever.
COMPOSITION
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
COOPERAGE
Aged for 34 months in 100% new French oak. We only use the finest French oak barrique with stave wood that is hand-selected for ultra-tight grain, then air dried for three years before being made into barrels.
