WINEMAKER NOTES
1992 Chateau Latour – A Rare First Growth from Pauillac
The 1992 Chateau Latour is a unique vintage from one of Bordeaux’s legendary First Growth estates. Despite a cooler and wetter growing season, Latour’s formidable terroir in Pauillac ensured structure, balance, and remarkable longevity compared to many other Left Bank wines of the year. This release offers a rare opportunity to experience mature Latour with three decades of graceful evolution.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, the 1992 reveals savory aromas of dried tobacco, cedar, and earth, accented by hints of blackcurrant and graphite. The palate is medium-bodied, with softened tannins carrying notes of red berries, herbal spice, and a touch of leather. While more restrained than blockbuster vintages, it offers elegance and subtlety with a refined finish.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
As with all Latour releases, the 1992 was produced primarily from old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The Grand Vin comes from vines within the famed “L’Enclos,” a 47-hectare plot of deep gravel soils directly surrounding the château, considered among the greatest terroirs in Bordeaux.
Investment & Collectibility
Although the 1992 vintage is not among the highest-rated in Bordeaux, the 1992 Chateau Latour remains collectible thanks to the estate’s First Growth pedigree and historical importance. Mature bottles are increasingly rare, making this wine an appealing acquisition for enthusiasts of aged Bordeaux. Perfect for your collection.
Vintage Specifics
The 1992 Bordeaux vintage was shaped by challenging weather, with heavy rainfall during harvest leading to lighter-structured wines. However, Latour’s meticulous selection and powerful terroir allowed it to produce one of the most successful wines of the vintage.

We provide free shipping insurance for loss or visible damage during transit, subject to carrier terms and conditions.
Shipping insurance does not cover deterioration in wine condition resulting from heat exposure, freezing temperatures, temperature fluctuations, carrier delays, missed delivery attempts, carrier holds, or other temperature-related transit conditions. Please review our Temperature Protection & Shipping Policy for more information.
