WINEMAKER NOTES
2020 Chateau Pavie – Modern Saint-Emilion with Serious Structure
The 2020 Chateau Pavie is a commanding Right Bank Bordeaux, shaped by the estate’s limestone-rich slopes above Saint-Emilion. Long associated with depth and ambition, Pavie in 2020 delivers a concentrated, finely built profile that balances generous fruit with the architectural tannins and freshness collectors look for in top Saint-Emilion Grand Cru bottlings.
Tasting Notes
Aromatics lean toward black cherry, cassis, crushed stone, and dark cocoa, with subtle floral and savory notes emerging as it opens. The palate is dense yet controlled, showing layered dark fruit framed by firm, polished tannins. Acidity keeps the wine lifted through the mid-palate, while the finish is long and mineral, with a chalky persistence that reflects Pavie’s hillside terroir.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
The blend is typically led by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from a mosaic of parcels on the cote and plateau. The estate’s emphasis on low yields and careful selection is matched by precise vinification and maturation in French oak, building texture and longevity without blurring site definition. The limestone and clay soils of Saint-Emilion play a central role in the wine’s line and aging capacity.
Investment & Collectibility
Chateau Pavie remains one of the most actively followed estates in Saint-Emilion, with consistent global demand among collectors of Right Bank Bordeaux. The 2020’s structure and concentration suggest a long drinking window, positioning it well for cellar-focused buyers and fine wine investment strategies.
Vintage Insights & Accolades

We offer complimentary temperature-controlled storage for up to 6 months from the date of purchase. Select the "Hold for Weather" option at checkout and we will coordinate shipping at a later date.
Insurance
We provide free shipping insurance for loss or visible damage during transit, subject to carrier terms and conditions.
Shipping insurance does not cover deterioration in wine condition resulting from heat exposure, freezing temperatures, temperature fluctuations, carrier delays, missed delivery attempts, carrier holds, or other temperature-related transit conditions. Please review our Temperature Protection & Shipping Policy for more information.
