2023 Claude Dugat Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru – Limited Production Burgundy
The 2023 Claude Dugat Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru reflects the domaine’s reputation for meticulous vineyard work and extremely limited production. Based in Gevrey Chambertin, Claude Dugat produces wines known for concentration, precision, and long-term aging potential. The 2023 vintage captures both the depth of Charmes Chambertin and the domaine’s restrained approach to extraction and élevage.
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, violet, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is layered and finely structured, offering concentrated red and dark fruit supported by refined tannins and vibrant acidity. Notes of earth, crushed stone, and gentle oak emerge through a long, composed finish marked by clarity and persistence.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Produced from Pinot Noir grown on limestone and clay soils within Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, the wine benefits from low yields and careful vineyard management. Fermentation is handled with precision to preserve site expression, followed by aging in French oak barrels to integrate texture and structure. The 2023 growing season provided balanced ripening conditions across the Cote de Nuits.
Investment & Collectibility
Claude Dugat remains one of Burgundy’s most sought-after small domaines, with limited allocations and consistent collector demand. Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru bottlings are particularly prized for their aging potential and scarcity, reinforcing the appeal of the 2023 vintage.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
The 2023 Burgundy vintage produced wines of balance and aromatic definition. In Charmes Chambertin, these conditions resulted in Pinot Noir with structure, depth, and long-term development potential.
