2012 Harlan Estate, Napa Valley, USA

In the heart of Napa Valley, the 2012 Harlan Estate stands as a true testament to the artistry and dedication of its producers. This vintage, created by the renowned Harlan Estate winery, weaves together history, varietals, and exceptional production attributes to deliver a wine experience like no other.

A Rich Heritage
The story of Harlan Estate is one of passion and vision. Founded by Bill Harlan in the 1980s, this estate has consistently pushed the boundaries of winemaking. The 2012 vintage reflects this legacy, embodying decades of expertise and a commitment to excellence.

The Blend of Varietals
At the core of the 2012 Harlan Estate is the noble Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its deep and complex flavors. But what sets this wine apart is its harmonious blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

Production Excellence
Crafting the 2012 Harlan Estate demands a meticulous approach. Grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the finest fruit makes its way into the winery. A rigorous sorting process further refines the selection.

Fermentation occurs in small lots, allowing for close supervision and gentle flavor extraction. Aging in French oak barrels is the final touch, where the wine matures gracefully, gaining complexity and depth.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

(Rating 99+) The 2012 Harlan Estate is reminiscent of their 2002. Probably a candidate for perfection with another 4-5 years of bottle age, the wine is inky plum/purple to the rim and offers a gorgeous nose of scorched earth, blackberry and cassis, forest floor, and a floral, lavender-like component followed by deep, opulent, majestic flavors that caress the palate with high but sweet tannin. This is relatively evolved, and supple and voluptuous for a young Harlan estate – hence the comparison with their compelling 2002. This wine can be drunk in several years and is likely another candidate for 30-50 years of cellaring. Reviewed by Robert M. Parker, Jr. Tasting date: October 2015. Drinking window: 2018 - 2068.

Vinous

Vivid and captivating from the very first taste, the 2012 Harlan Estate is insanely beautiful. Mocha, espresso, savory herbs and spices emerge from the breathtaking, intensely aromatic bouquet in a stunningly beautiful delineated wine that represents the height of total finesse. The silky, layered finish is a thing of beauty, even with all of its richness, the 2012 is never heavy. That is partly the vintage, but also the result of a gradual but at the same time clear evolution towards more finesse and less brute power. Reviewed by Antonio Galloni. Tasting date: October 2014. Drinking window: 2018 - 2037.
