Provenance & Masters Behind the Bottle

Founded in 1973 by Joseph Phelps, a construction magnate with a passion for wine, the winery was one of the first to blend traditional Bordeaux varieties in California. Today, it is helmed by his son, Bill Phelps, and their winemaker Ashley Hepworth, who was awarded 'Winemaker of the Year' by the San Francisco Chronicle. Their expertise is evident in every bottle.

Vineyard & Craftsmanship

The winery spans over 390 acres across Napa Valley, with plots in highly acclaimed AVAs. They use sustainable farming techniques and manually harvest grapes to maintain quality. A mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes contributes to the distinct personality of their wines. Due to limited production, their wines often sell out upon release, reinforcing their exclusivity.

Aging & Investment Value

Joseph Phelps wines are crafted for longevity, often requiring several years in the cellar to reach their peak expression. Given their high scores and exclusivity, these wines offer excellent investment opportunities, frequently appreciating in value over time.
