Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits, France

The nose is pure and delicate. The mouth is fresh and transparent, with a touch of violets. Elegance is the dominant impression. This wine already presents an air of seduction.

Of all them raw from Domain, it is the more early, the less complex. He flourishes before them others with a lovely clarity of expression : a seductive tenderness dressed a skeleton of steel who him allow to evolve with elegance. This is the brother cadet from Great Echezeaux, glorious elder whose he burns to equal the fortune. He don't care approach sometimes, speaking a speech muscle and conqueror.

This is the second time that I have tasted the 2010 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru from bottle from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and it was a wine that prompted a table of mature Pinot aficionadoes to remark upon the joys of infanticide. This is just a fantastic wine from the domaine. The nose is heavenly with its exquisite delineation, the fruit maybe a touch darker and earthier than a couple of years ago -- yet still with subtle woodland/sous-bois aromas and a hint of morels. The palate is wonderfully defined, so fresh and precise with filigree tannin. Yet there is great backbone to this wine, a framework that imparts a sense of symmetry that is totally disarming. Of course, readers should afford this magnificent wine a decade in the cellar...unless by complete accident a corkscrew falls into the cork and twists around until the cork pops out. Then you will have to drink it. Issue date December 30, 2015. Tasting window: 2020-2045.

Vinous

(Rating 93+) Good bright, deep red. Superb precision to the aromas of black cherry, dark raspberry and Oriental spices. Intensely flavored and bracing, with terrific saline energy to the flavors of red berries, white pepper and blood orange. Showing more fruit intensity today than the Corton. Leaves the palate tingling on the long, vibrant aftertaste. A superb vintage for this cuvee. Aubert de Villaine noted that he vinified his 2010 reds with 60% to 80% whole clusters, with the higher percentage generally used for vines affected by millerandage.
