Established in the western hills of Oakville, Harlan Estate is known for wines that combine structure, depth, and long-term aging potential. The 2020 vintage presents a composed and precise expression shaped by careful vineyard selection and disciplined winemaking.
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is layered and structured, offering concentrated dark fruit supported by finely textured tannins. Notes of cocoa, crushed stone, and subtle spice develop through a long, controlled finish that emphasizes balance and clarity.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grown on hillside vineyards with well-drained soils. Fermentation is conducted in small lots to preserve vineyard character, followed by aging in French oak barrels to integrate structure and aromatic complexity. The 2020 growing season required careful vineyard management, resulting in focused and precise fruit.
Investment & Collectibility
Harlan Estate remains one of Napa Valley’s most tightly allocated wines, with consistent global demand. The 2020 vintage, produced under challenging conditions, is noted for its structure and definition, offering long-term aging potential for collectors.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
The 2020 Napa Valley vintage was shaped by a shortened growing season, producing wines of concentration and clarity. At Harlan Estate, these conditions resulted in a wine defined by precision and balance.
