The 2009 Carruades de Lafite reflects the pedigree of Chateau Lafite Rothschild while offering an earlier-drinking expression of Pauillac. Drawn from select parcels within the estate, Carruades captures the hallmark elegance and aromatic precision of Lafite in a wine shaped by the warmth and generosity of the 2009 Bordeaux vintage.
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals notes of blackcurrant, cedar, and subtle violet. On the palate, the wine is supple and layered, with ripe dark fruit framed by polished tannins and balanced acidity. Hints of graphite and gentle spice unfold through a long, harmonious finish that echoes the estate’s signature refinement.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
The blend typically features a higher proportion of Merlot alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from younger vines and distinct parcels within the Lafite holdings. Fermentation is conducted with careful extraction before aging in French oak barrels to refine texture and structure. The warm, even 2009 growing season provided fruit of depth and balance across Pauillac.
