The 2016 Chateau d’Yquem Y Ygrec showcases a rare and compelling expression of dry white Bordeaux from one of the world’s most iconic producers. While Chateau d’Yquem is synonymous with Sauternes, Ygrec reflects the estate’s mastery of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, delivering clarity, structure, and quiet power in a distinctly refined style.
Tasting Notes
Aromatically expressive, the wine opens with citrus zest, white peach, pear, and subtle herbal tones. On the palate, it is layered yet precise, combining vibrant acidity with a supple mid-palate texture. Notes of lemon curd, crushed stone, and faint spice carry through a long, focused finish that emphasizes freshness and balance rather than overt richness.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Ygrec is produced from a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with a portion of Semillon, sourced from estate vineyards managed to the same exacting standards as the Sauternes parcels. Investment & Collectibility
Produced in limited quantities, Ygrec has become increasingly sought after by collectors looking for distinctive white Bordeaux with pedigree. The 2016 vintage is noted for its balance and precision, offering both immediate appeal and the ability to evolve gracefully over time.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
