WINEMAKER NOTES
2021 Colgin Tychson Hill – Cult Cabernet from Historic Napa Soil
The 2021 Colgin Cellars Tychson Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a hallmark of elegance and terroir specificity in Napa Valley. Planted just north of St. Helena on the western bench, the Tychson Hill site was first established in the 19th century and reimagined under Ann Colgin’s vision for precision viticulture and restrained power. This is one of Napa's most distinct single-vineyard bottlings and among the most sought-after California Cult Wines.
Tasting Notes
The 2021 vintage offers a hauntingly pure aromatic profile—violets, graphite, blueberry skin, and cool mountain herbs. On the palate, it's remarkably fine-boned for a Cabernet Sauvignon, with silky tannins, bright acidity, and a long finish that carries mineral tension and floral lift. Ethereal and sculpted, it echoes Grand Cru Burgundy more than typical Napa Cabernet.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Tychson Hill is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in iron-rich soils layered over volcanic bedrock. The wine is vinified using native yeasts and aged in 100% new French oak for approximately 20 months. No detail is spared, and the vineyard's unique clonal selection contributes to its singular texture and aromatic character.
Investment & Collectibility
Colgin’s Tychson Hill consistently attracts global collectors thanks to its scarcity, vineyard pedigree, and cellar-worthy structure. Production is extremely limited, and with 2021 being a focused, low-yield vintage, demand will outpace supply. Perfect for your collection, especially for those curating top-tier Napa Valley holdings.
Vintage Insights
The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley delivered wines of clarity, concentration, and structure. Tychson Hill benefitted from a cooler microclimate, allowing for slow ripening and a balance of ripeness and freshness. It’s a vintage destined for long aging with decades of evolution ahead.
