WINEMAKER NOTES
2021 Hundred Acre 'Ark Vineyard' – Howell Mountain Cult Cabernet
The 2021 Hundred Acre 'Ark Vineyard' Cabernet Sauvignon captures the precision, intensity, and lavish texture that define Jayson Woodbridge’s winemaking philosophy. Sourced exclusively from the estate’s steeply terraced vineyard on Howell Mountain, this wine stands as one of Napa Valley’s most profound and age-worthy expressions. Every vintage of Ark is a testament to obsessive vineyard care, ultra-selective harvests, and long, meticulous aging.
Tasting Notes
The 2021 Ark bursts with aromas of blackberry compote, violet, and cassis, underpinned by notes of graphite, smoked cocoa, and wild sage. The palate is dense yet sculpted, revealing waves of dark fruit, espresso, and spice framed by ultra-fine tannins. The finish is powerful and persistent, balanced by Howell Mountain’s trademark freshness and mineral lift.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
The Ark Vineyard sits between 1,400 and 1,800 feet above sea level on rocky volcanic soils, producing naturally concentrated fruit. The 2021 vintage is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for nearly 30 months in 100% new French oak. Hand-harvested in micro-lots, the wine is neither fined nor filtered, preserving its natural texture and depth. Each bottle is individually numbered, underscoring its rarity.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2021 Hundred Acre 'Ark Vineyard' continues the estate’s legacy of near-perfect critical acclaim. Known for its longevity and opulent style, Ark remains one of the most collectible California Cult Wines. With micro-production levels and global demand, this vintage is poised to appreciate in both prestige and value. Perfect for your collection.
Vintage Insights
The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley was low-yielding but exceptional in concentration. On Howell Mountain, cooler nights and long hang time produced Cabernet Sauvignon of superb aromatic clarity and balance. This vintage will rank among the finest of the past decade, with cellaring potential of 25+ years.
