The 2016 Levy & McClellan Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the meticulous approach of Bob Levy and Martha McClellan, two of Napa Valley’s most respected winemakers. Crafted from select hillside parcels, this vintage showcases intensity, refinement, and balance—qualities that have earned the estate a place among the region’s modern cult producers.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant, violet, cedar, and warm spice. The palate is powerful yet composed, offering layers of dark berry fruit supported by firm, velvety tannins. A mineral thread runs through the finish, underscoring the structure and precision that define the 2016 growing season. The wine’s clarity and depth speak to both site and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Sourced primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of complementary Bordeaux varietals, the wine is fermented in small lots and aged in French oak barrels. The vineyard’s elevation, rocky soils, and restrained yields contribute to concentration and aromatic purity. The 2016 season provided warm, consistent ripening, resulting in fruit of exceptional balance and definition.
Investment & Collectibility
Levy & McClellan has emerged as one of Napa Valley’s most limited and sought-after producers, with each release commanding strong interest from collectors. The 2016 vintage has already demonstrated impressive aging potential and reliable performance across the secondary market.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
