WINEMAKER NOTES
2010 Masseto Toscana IGT – Collectible Super Tuscan Merlot
The 2010 Masseto Toscana IGT is a defining release from one of Tuscany's most collected estates. Produced from Merlot grown on the clay-rich slopes of the Masseto vineyard near Bolgheri, this vintage combines depth, polish, and the structural discipline that has made Masseto a reference point for Italian fine wine.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with black cherry, plum, graphite, cedar, and subtle Mediterranean herb. On the palate, the wine is dense yet controlled, with layered dark fruit, refined tannins, and measured acidity. Notes of cocoa, crushed stone, and tobacco build through a long finish that remains precise rather than heavy.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Masseto is sourced entirely from Merlot planted on blue clay soils, a site that gives the wine its depth and firm mineral frame. Fermentation is conducted with careful parcel selection, followed by aging in French oak barrels to refine texture and integrate power. The 2010 season offered steady ripening, excellent phenolic maturity, and notable balance.
Investment & Collectibility
The 2010 vintage sits among the most sought-after modern Masseto releases, combining rarity, estate reputation, and proven cellaring potential. Its limited production and strong global demand make it a serious holding for collectors focused on Super Tuscan and Merlot-based investment wines.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
The 2010 Tuscany vintage is widely admired for balance and longevity. At Masseto, these conditions produced a wine of concentration, freshness, and enduring structural precision.
