2007 Opus One – Mature Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
The 2007 Opus One reflects the partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, combining Napa Valley fruit with a Bordeaux-inspired approach. Produced in Oakville, Opus One has established a reputation for consistency and balance. The 2007 vintage, shaped by favorable growing conditions, now offers a mature expression with composure and depth.
Tasting Notes
The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, dried plum, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is resolved and layered, offering dark fruit supported by softened tannins and balanced acidity. Notes of leather, cocoa, and subtle spice emerge through a long, integrated finish that reflects its development in bottle.
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec sourced from estate vineyards in Oakville. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels to refine structure and aromatic complexity. The 2007 growing season provided steady ripening conditions across Napa Valley.
Investment & Collectibility
Opus One remains one of Napa Valley’s most recognized wines globally. Mature vintages such as 2007 are increasingly limited in availability, appealing to collectors seeking developed Bordeaux-style blends with established provenance.
Vintage Insights & Accolades
The 2007 Napa Valley vintage produced wines of balance and approachability. At Opus One, these conditions resulted in a wine defined by harmony and steady aging potential.
